What is the story of Juneteenth, and who are some of the women whose leadership, courage, and contributions helped shape the ongoing pursuit of freedom, equality, and justice?
Join us for a special episode of Together We FEEL as we explore the history and significance of Juneteenth, while honoring the women whose voices, advocacy, and community leadership have helped preserve and advance its legacy.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Over generations, communities have preserved and celebrated Juneteenth as a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing work of creating a more just and equitable society.
In this thoughtful and educational conversation, we will examine the history of Juneteenth and highlight the often-overlooked contributions of women who have played important roles in preserving Black history, building community, advancing civil rights, and carrying forward the spirit of the movement.
